Tomorrow is Cedric's eighth birthday, and he is so excited he can't sleep!

Finally, the big day arrives! Cedric and his friends are celebrating when tremendous fireworks appear in the sky! Then, a giant box floating on a cloud stops right in front of Cedric!

A robot! A mountain bike! A beautiful pony!

Cedric's friends have lots of ideas about what is in the box, but the box is too big to peek inside.

What's inside the magical box, and how will Cedric get it out?

ABOUT THE SERIES

This children's book series stars a young African-Asian-American boy on a quest to  see every corner of the globe. Through cultural exploration, CedintheCity learns new  life lessons, embraces the beauty in diversity, and gets exposure to a world of  possibilities that only adventure and travel can teach. In the first books in the  series, Birthday Surprise and Happy Chuseok, a Korean Thanksgiving, author  Roosevelt Edwards expertly weaves informative and exciting stories that highlight Cedric’s adventurous spirit and love for world cultures.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Roosevelt was born in South Korea and raised in Tennessee. His debut children's adventures series is a tribute to his late nephew, Cedric Hutchison II, also known as "CedintheCity",  whose travels around the world and his thrill-seeking and generous spirit inspired the writings of these books. Roosevelt hopes that through highlighting other cultures and parts of the world, the CedintheCity series will encourage young readers to learn more about travel and the people around them, and that they instill a lifelong love of reading.

ABOUT CEDRIC HUTCHISON II (aka CedintheCity)

Cedric Hutchison II was an African-Asian-American educator and travel enthusiast. Cedric's legend began in August 2016, when he combined his passions for travel and education to teach English in Beijing. Having never lived outside of the United States, Cedric unknowingly embarked on a journey of self-discovery that would take him to over 30 countries in under three years. Through his travels, he grew to appreciate different cultures and used those experiences to have a lasting impact on children he taught in China, teenagers in Czech Republic, and young adults in Malaysia before he tragically passed away in 2019 at the age 27.

We honor Cedric's legacy through the CedintheCity adventure series with hopes of inspiring the next generation. In his memory, may they inspire you to dream big, put action behind fear, never give up, and most of all, to be a legendary in all you do.
